If you ever need to get yourself out of a rut, you can always start with some good music.
How do you find your music?
"I've recently been diving back into music to give myself a larger library for mixing. I like to listen to all genres of music except for opera but I like to mix house, techno, drum n' bass, hip-hop, and pop. Digging for music becomes a lot easier when you have an idea of what you're looking for. Of course, the way you dig for your music can vary. I usually like to use Spotify, SoundCloud, and YouTube. When you create a playlist on Spotify with specific songs that fit your theme for your set, it does a pretty great job at recommending songs that carry that same sound. Not only that, but Spotify always curates their own playlists and allows you access to other users playlists, so it makes discovering music a lot easier. YouTube is great for the music rabbit holes you can get into when you click on a link in their recommended videos feed. SoundCloud is where you can find sets created by other DJs, remixes and new sounds created by any SoundCloud user."
What songs have you been listening to lately?
"Usually, I'll have five songs that I listen to at least once a day and that'll rotate out every two to four weeks. Right now, I've had Bandit by Don Toliver, Devil's Chariot by LSDXOXO, break // 1K by mykel online, Crushing by Eartheater, and Odoriko by Vaundy on repeat. "
Something old, something new?
"An older song that I can put on any day is Time of the Season by the Zombies and a new track I found recently is Third Coast by Teezo Touchdown."

For me it changes All the time! When I am driving it is Pop, in the gym is more of a rock. I also have playlist from back home with specifically SVK /cz artists. When I am in good mood and just want to dance in my apartment I tend to slide back to 90s and 2000’ music because honestly it's soon good, they don't make it like that anymore :D:D haha and for sure music connect people! I don't go anywhere without my headphones.
Mom listens to pretty much any type of music from hiphop to country to french jazz to well you name it! Having kids ranging in age helps to keep her exposed to new music and coming from a family of band members kept her immersed in music from a young age. She will never tire of Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey, is loving Morgan Wallen lately and always enjoys Mackelmore, Amy Winehouse, bbno$, Kendrick Lamar and Kygo among others!
I love how you've shared your method for discovering new music! Your diverse taste spans across genres like house, techno, hip-hop, and pop, showcasing a rich palette for mixing. Using platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and YouTube not only offers convenience but also opens up endless possibilities for exploration. Your current rotation of tracks, from Don Toliver to Teezo Touchdown, reflects a dynamic range of sounds. It's fantastic to see your blend of both classic favorites like "Time of the Season" by the Zombies and fresh discoveries like "Third Coast" by Teezo Touchdown. Keep exploring and sharing your musical journey—it's inspiring!
Lately I've been listening to 90s hip hop. Seattle is so rainy this time of year and visibility is so bad on the freeway - and I drive a lot! I like to put on 90s hip hop so my brain can relax to familiar songs. 5 of my favorites off of my playlist that I've been listening to are: Hypnotize, Put your hands where my eyes can see, It was a good day, Fantastic Voyage, & the Humpty Dance:)
